Building Safety Regulator disciplinary panel recruitment

Overview

The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) is recruiting professionals to join its disciplinary panels.

BSR is responsible for maintaining professional standards and public confidence in the building control profession.

About the disciplinary panels

Disciplinary panels consider cases where concerns have been raised about professional misconduct by registered building inspectors (RBIs) and alleged breaches of the professional conduct rules by registered building control approvers (RBCAs).

Each panel includes:

  • a legally qualified chair
  • a professional member (RBI)
  • a lay member

What we're looking for

BSR is currently inviting applications for all 3 panel roles.

You can find further information about each role and its requirements in the attachments at the bottom of this page.

Application process

You can submit your application online using the form below.

The first page of the application is the disqualification criteria. You must confirm you have read this before you can continue your application.

If you're unable to apply online, you can send your application by post. Find details on how to do this in the role descriptions in the related links section below. The disqualification criteria is also included in this section. Please ensure you have read and understood this before sending your postal application.

The sift will take place throughout the duration of the live advert. BSR reserves the right to close the advert early if enough suitable candidates are found before the advert end date.

We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds and will look to promote equal opportunities wherever possible.

Interviews

Interviews will take place in November. Dates will be confirmed once recruitment panel availability is agreed.

Deadline

If you’re interested in joining the BSR disciplinary panel, you must apply by 11:59pm on Sunday 15th November.

Further information

BSR reserves the right to do additional checks, including Google and social media checks, when recruiting candidates into a role within BSR. These checks will be carried out in line with the Civil Service Commission Principles and, if used, all candidates will be subject to these additional checks.

Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) can be a useful tool to support your application, however, all examples and statements provided must be truthful, factually accurate and taken directly from your own experience. Applications containing unedited template or AI-generated content, including placeholders, drafting instructions or text that is clearly irrelevant to the application, will not be progressed. Where plagiarism has been identified (presenting the ideas and experiences of others, or generated by artificial intelligence, as your own) applications may be withdrawn and internal candidates may be subject to disciplinary action. Please see our candidate guidance (opens in a new window) for more information on appropriate and inappropriate use.

Disability Confidence Scheme

BSR is proud to be a part of the Disability Confidence Scheme (DCS). As a Disability Confident employer, we positively welcome applications from disabled people. We are committed to making workplace adjustments to ensure anyone can participate in the recruitment and selection process.

If, during the application or interview process, you require any assistance due to a disability or a medical condition, please contact us at BSR-PFP@buildingsafety.gov.uk to discuss how we can support you. For example, if you have a disability, and you need an application form in an alternative format or you would like to know more about our recruitment process.

If successful in securing your role, BSR can provide suitable workplace adjustments to support you throughout your career with us.

Security

Successful candidates must have a basic (or equivalent) criminal record check.

People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard (opens in new window) checks.
